The Practice Incentives Program (PIP) is providing these funds to support the national e-health agenda by encouraging practices to adopt latest e-health developments, the use of electronic communication and IT in the health sector.

As a healthcare provider there are some steps you need to take to be eligible for the e-health PIP.  Medicare Australia is the key liaison point for GPs.

To ensure customers are eligible for the PIP eHealth Incentive, a supplier needs to complete a Statement of Commitment and submit to NEHTA.  Practices will be advised that, to determine their eligibility for the eHealth Incentive, they need to check the NEHTA website to see if their supplier is listed.  The list is available at www.nehta.gov.au/pip-vendors.  The Statement of Commitment has been distributed from Department of Health and Ageing to the MSIA for distribution to their members.

Consultation at a high level with industry bodies has commenced however workshops and forums will also be held in March and April 2009. Details of these will be posted on the NEHTA web site. You can also subscribe to the NEHTA RSS for all alerts.
